Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduates can become Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC) after completing supervised experience and passing required exams. Internships/Practicum at UCF

Students get their original hands-on experience at the UCF Community Counseling and Research Center (CCRC). This center is the only free mental health clinic in Central Florida, serving more than 1,800 clients annually. Faculty supervisors watch your sessions through a control room during practicum. They provide live guidance through an earphone system. Digital recordings of all counseling sessions help review and assess your clinical skills.
Clinical Mental Health Counseling students must complete 700 clinical hours. This includes 100 hours at the CCRC and 600 hours in community settings. School Counseling students also complete 700 hours – 100 at the CCRC and 600 in school settings.
The Field Education Office connects Social Work students with over 800 agencies to provide quality field placements. These selected sites help students apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations under professional guidance.
The UCF-Aspire Behavioral Health Internship Program is a chance for Counselor Education students to specialize in substance use disorder treatment. Selected students receive $5,000 per semester (totaling $10,000).
